    Question Just Curious! VHS Tapes

Anyone out there still have a VHS player and watch VHS tapes?

How do you dispose of the tapes if you don't use them anymore?

They don't play well on a digital TV either I have noticed since I dumped all my tube sets some time ago.

    Your thoughts.

Lee, the age of the tapes has more to do with the poor picture quality than the Digital TV. They contain no Hazmat as far as I know, and they can be disposed of in your regular trash. It may be that they are recyclable, but I would contact the local recycling contractor to be sure. At the very least the Plastic cases should be recyclable, but you may have to break the cases open and dispose of the tape yourself.

I saw some tapes for sale at the Patriot flea market in Zephyrhills last week. Someone there might be willing to take them rather than just dumping them. They might be worth something in a trade deal there.

There are some VHS cassettes in the garage that I want to throw away. Thanks for the mention that they can be trashed BamBam.

Some where in one of the closets I still have a box of audio cassettes too -- nothing in the way of hardware to play any of that stuff exists here however ...

    Times certainly do move on.

I had a huge library of VHS (and Beta!) tapes that eventually got tossed. I did keep the ones of the family history, but all the others are toast.

I still have a "Beta player, just in case.

As to audio CD's. Well, I've got towers and towers full of them and I don't believe ANY of them have come out to play for about 5 to 10 years now.
